Professor Ian White has today been appointed our Vice-Chancellor, following Senate and Council meetings. He will come in to post on the 8th of April 2019.

Professor White is currently the Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Cambridge and has a background in technology and engineering teaching, including as Professor of Physics at the University of Bath from 1990 to 1996.

The remuneration package Professor White will receive includes a £266,000 salary, with most other aspects the same as other members of staff or management. This includes no accomodation allowance, car, or funding of a car. No details were provided on a biscuit allowance.

In a message to staff and students, professor White stated:

“This appointment means a great deal to me. Bath is a University which I care about deeply, having worked here at an early and highly significant stage in my academic career.

“It will be an absolute privilege to become your Vice-Chancellor, and I look forward to speaking with you and learning more about the University today and our collective ambitions for the future.
