2017 SU Officer Elections: The Results

After a week of campaigning and candidate interviews, the 2017 SU Officer Elections have come to an end and the results have been announced.

Ben Davies has been elected as the next SU President with an overwhelming 2427 ahead of Jev with 841. As incumbent Education Officer, Bend Davis’ win mirrors Lucy Woodcock’s trajectory from one SU officer position to another.

According to URB’s exit polls, the closest race was without a doubt Education. Chloe Page won with 1727 votes, confirming/refuting URB’s predictions. While the win was uncertain at first, Chloe took the lead after the votes were redistributed.

With Regards to Community, Ben Palmer has been elected with 2016 of the votes after redistribution.

Your Next Activities Officer is Kim Pickett She won by 2349 votes against 1524 for Beth Stevenson

Current Sports Officer Will Galloway will be reprising the role of Sports Officer for the 2017-2018 academic year. Will won 3306 of the votes.

Last but not least, Liam Everly has been confirmed as the next Postgraduate Officer with 3192 votes against 330 for R.O.N

5098 students voted in this year elections, just short of last year’s record 5234. According to the elections statistics, Natural Science students cast the most votes, ahead of Mathematical Sciences and Politics, Language and International studies.
