SU Sports officer tells us to wear our best #blueandgold

The 2015-2016 BUCS season is now underway with our very own sports teams proudly wearing their blue and gold kits and representing the University far and wide in dozens of different sports.

BUCS takes places throughout the year with a huge number of sports either taking part in league competitions or in a tournament format. It allows students at the top of their sport to play against other universities and demonstrate the skills developed through the time and effort put in by all our sporting enthusiasts. The teams also play for points, points which get added together at the end of the year and give the university a ranking in the BUCS League table.

Last year Bath held a very respectable 4th place however there is still an opportunity to move up! A majority of these competitions take place on Wednesday afternoons with the home competitions taking place at the STV or on the Sulis Pitch. These games are easy to get to with supporting areas available so make sure you are there to support your university!

Some events are also held at weekends so there is always something to go and support while flying the flag for the University of Bath and SU Sport.

The majority of our matches are played against other universities in the South West with the likes of Exeter, Cardiff and Bristol being hotly contested derby matches.

This week provided the chance for Badminton, Football, Hockey, Lacrosse, Netball, Rugby Union and Tennis to play on home turf against worthy oppositions such as Exeter, Southampton and Hartpury. The action was not only held on campus however, with Golf and Rugby also playing away games against South Wales and UWE. The team’s social media pages are a great way to keep up to date with their progress so make sure you follow them on twitter and join their facebook group.

Every week the fixtures are released so keep an eye out on these and remember to wear your best #blueandgold, support our athletes to a successful BUCS season and help do Bath proud!
